Asuka (飛鳥) is a town with many historical sites from 7th century in Japan. It is located in central Nara prefecture. It is the first imperial palace was located in this place. There are hundreds of Kofun, ruins of imperial palace, temple and mausoleums. The first emperor of Japan became the emperor at this place and many of the important historical evens happened at this place. This is the oldest imperial palace of Japanese Empire, and history of Japan began at this place. There are many historical relics from 4th to 7th century. Also, the first temple in Japan, Asuka Temple, is in this area.

Asuka
Kofun of Emperor Tenmu & Jinmu
Kofun of Emperor Tenmu & Jinmu is the mausoleum of the 40th Emperor Tenmu and the 41st Empress Jito. Emperor Tenmu is one of the powerful Emperor who built strong central government in Japan and conquered most of Japan. He became the emperor after the victory of Jinshin no Ran in 672. Empress Jito was the wife of Emperor Tenmu and became the emperor until their son became the 42nd Emperor.

Ishibutai Kofun
Ishibutai Kofun is the largest stone grave of Japan located in Asuka, Nara Prefecture. It was constructed in early 7th century. It is the stone chamber of mausoleum of Soga no Umako. There are about 30 stones constructed for this chamber and entire weight is about 2,300 ton. The roof is about 77 ton. This chamber was covered with the earth. However, the earth had lost. The inside of the chamber is 7.7m long x 3.5m wide x 4.7m tall. It was used to be 51m square Kofun with moat.

Den Asuka Itabukinomiya
Den Asuka Itabukinomiya was one of the ruins of Imperial palace. It is located in Asuka, Nara prefecture. In 645, Taikanokaishin was happened in this place. It was very important event in the history of Japan. It was used to be the size of 156m x 197m.

Sakafune Stone
Sakafune Stone is one of mysterious stone in Asuka, Nara Prefecture. It is a carved granite with unique texture. The size of the Sakafune Stone is 5.5m long, 2.3m wide and 1m thick. No body knows about how to use this stone.

Asuka Temple
Asuka Temple is the oldest temple in Japan. It was established by Soga no Umako in late 6th century. There is a Daibutsu that also made in the same period.

Asuka History Park
Asuka History Park is a history park with many Kofun located in Asuka, Nara Prefecture. There is a Asuka Hisotry Museum that displays many historical relics found in Asuka. There are two Kofun, Takamatsuzuka Kofun and Nakaoyama Kofun in this park. The wall painting that found in Takamatsuzuka Kofun is only few 7th century paintings that found in Japan. The copy of the painting is displays in this park as well. There are observatory and play ground.

Onino Secchin and Onino Manaita
They are a part of stone chamber of Kofun built in late 7th century. Old people believed that these stones were kitchen plate and men's room.
