Asuke castle is a mountain castle that is built in 15th century by Suzuki clan. It is located on the top of Mt. Mayumi. The main bailey is located on the top of the mountain that is 301m high from the sea level.
In 1525, Matsudaira Kiyoyasu, grand father of Tokugawa Ieyasu, attacked this castle, and later Suzuki clan belong to Matsudaira army.
In 1554, Suzuki clan change their side to Imagawa clan.
In 1564, Tokugawa Ieyasu, attacked this castle with 3,000 of his army and Suzuki belong to Ieyasu again.
In 1571, attacked by Takeda Shingen with 25,000 of his army.
In 1575, Okazaki Nobuyasu, the son of Ieyasu, attacked this castle and defeated Takeda's army.
in 1590, the castle was abandoned because Ieyasu moved to Kanto Region.
Today, the structure of the castle remains in great condition. There are Keeps and Samurai houses are reconstructed to represent the castle of Sengoku period.
