Jishoji Temple(慈照寺), aka Ginkakuji(銀閣寺), is one of the popular temples located in Kyoto. It was established in 1490 by Ashikaga Yoshimasa. Ginakakuji represents the art of Higashiyama Culture. Yoshimasa tried the new art of Wabi-Sabi. Therefore, unlike Kinkakuji, this temple is very simple with quiet arts. Those historical values are designated as National Special Historic Sites and National Special Sceneries. It is also registered as the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

There is no parking.
Admission: 500 yen.
Time: 8:30 to 17:00 (Mar. to Nov.), 9:00 to 16:30 (Dec. to Feb.)

Jishoji Temple
Jishoji Temple, aka Ginkakuji, is one of the popular temples located in eastern Kyoto. It is Rinzai Buddhism temple established in 1490 by Ashikaga Yoshimasa. It is a pair temple with Kinkakuji Temple. Ginkaku literally means silver castle. Yoshimasa is Shogun of Muromachi government. He became Shogun when he was 15 years old. He spends all of his life to built the art and culture of Higashiyama style which is focusing on Wabi-sabi.

Kannondo Hall or Ginkaku
It is designated as the national treasure. It is a two stories building that is Muromachi tower garden-style only exists today. It was constructed in 1489.

Tougudo Hall
Constructed in 1486. In front of this building, there is a beautiful sand art garden and pond-surrounding garden.
