The Shogun at the time, Ietsuna settled Kameido as the recovering center of Meireki's fire disaster which burned 3/4 of Edo town, and built new shrine in current location. In 1662, the shrine built the main shrine, paths, bridge and gardens by following the order of the main Tenmangu at Kyushu.
