Japanese Style Garden

Oyakuen (御薬園跡) is a Japanese style garden located in Morioka, Iwate Pref. It is a pond surrounding style garden built about 300 years ago. It is registered as the national scenery. This garden was used to be the farm of medicinal plants for the castle lords.

Tourist Info.
There are a parking and restroom.
Admission: Free. Please ask the office to enter.
Time: 9:00 to 21:00 (by 17:00 for Sunday and Holiday)
Closed: Monday. When Monday is Holiday, next day will be closed. Year end and new years days.

Oyakuen is located in Morioka City Kominkan. This garden was the garden of 4th lord of Nambu domain, Nambu Shigenobu. He built this garden for the farm of medicinal plants in 1669. Today is known as the famous Koyo spot in Morioka.
