Shimizu-en garden was constructed by 4th lord of Shibata, Mizoguchi Shigekatsu. It was the garden of Shimo-yashiki of Daimyo.
In 1666, Shigekatsu invited the tea master, Agata Souchi, and asked him to design his garden. He takes the eight scenic beauty of Omi. It is kyoto style Japanese garden. It is a tyical pond surrounding garden. There are several tea houses that surruing tea houses. Each tea house has different views.
