Takaoka Kanayamachi town (高岡金屋町) is an Edo Style Town located in Takaoka, Toyama and one of the popular travel spots in Takaoka. In 1611, the second lord of the Kaga Maeda clan, Maeda Toshinaga, invited many metalworkers to this town. Those metalworkers made Takaoka very famous for copper craft works. There are many copper shops that also has the copper craft studio.There are many traditional houses still to be found. This town is also registered as a group of traditional houses.

Takaoka Kanayamachi Town

Kanayamachi is a famous town of Takaoka Bronze located in Takaoka city, Toyama Prefecture. The lord of Kaga, Maeda Toshinaga invited many casters to develop the industory in his land. Since then, this town became very strong and famous metalwork town, expecially coppers and bronze became the one of the most famous metal crafts in Japan.

There are still many copper and bronze shops in this town. The scenery of this town are presevered very well as the Edo period. Therefore it is registered as Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings.

There is free museum that shows the traditional way of Takaoka Casting.
