Yoshino Shrine's establishment is known, but it appears in 1,000 years old records (New Nihonshoki). shrine means dividing water and represent the god of rice harvesting. It is also known as the god of baby and blessing with children.
The building is the because all three buildings are connected to each were. In 1596, Toyotomi Hideyoshi visited this shrine and prayed for having baby. Later he had his only son Hideyori. For the appreciation of that, Hideyoshi donated the new buildings. Later, Hideyori completed the construction. It has the feature of Momoyama style arts.
It is registered as the part of UNESCO World Heritage Site "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range."
