Chirimen Road

Chirimen Road (ちりめん街道) is the town with many traditional houses located in Yosano, Kyoto Prefecture. It is about 830m long and there are merchant houses, Chirimen Woven Fabric factory and other houses that constructed between late Edo period to early Showa period. It has a view of old-time Japan.

0. at Nishi Maizuru Station.
1. use Kyoto Tango Line to Yosano Station.
2. walk south.

Chirimen Road
Chirimen Kaido Road is located in Yosano, Kyoto Prefecture. This area had been very famous for Chirimen Woven Fabric. There are many traditional houses, fabric factories, banks, merchant houses and established temples remaining here.

This area is registered as the preserved scenery of the group of the important traditional houses.

Shibutani House
Constructed in 1897. This house is the typical houses around northern Kyoto.

Kawashima House
Constructed in 1929. This house was used to be Sake Brewery. It has the feature of Sake Brewery.

Bito House
This house is one of the traditional houses that open for the public traditional houses.
Bito family was raw silk and chirimen wholesalers. This house was constructed in 1865.

Hogenji Temple
The Sanmon Gate was consgtructed in 1818.
