Jojakkoji Temple (常寂光寺) is Nichiren Buddhism Temple located Sagano, Kyoto. It is located in Sagano, Kyoto. It was established in 1596 by priest Nisshin. Jojakkou is the best heaven in Tendai Buddhism. It was name that because the scenery of this temple was just like the Jojakkoudo. It has a beautiful Koyo that considered as one of the best in Kyoto.

There is no parking, but is restroom.
Admission: 400 yen for adult, 200 yen for kids.
Free for handicap person.
Open: 9:00 to 17:00 (last entry 16:30)

0. at Kyoto Station.
1. use JR Sanin Line to Saga-Arashiyama.
2. walk west (15 min.)

Jojakkoji Temple

Jojakkoji is Nichiren Buddhism temple established in 1596. This place was originally located Shiguretei of Fujiwara no Sadaie who selected Hyakunin ishu at this place. Priest Nisshin was the founder of the temple.

Today, it is know as great spot of Koyo, the autumn leaves. From the upper hill, it has great view of Kyoto. There are beautiful Japanese gardens and flower gardens. Jojakkoji has beautiful aspects for all seasons.

-Niomon gate-
Built in 14th century and removed here in 1616. It was originally the south gate of Honkokuji.

-Taho Tower-
Built in 1620 by Tsujifuji Naonobu. Registered as the national important cultural asset.
