Kimpu Shrine

Kimpu Shrine (金峯神社) is located in Yoshino, Nara Prefecture. This place is the deepest place of Yoshino Mountain. It was used to be the largest Shugendo place of Yoshino. In 1185, Minamoto no Yoshitsune hid this hall.

There is no parking. There is a restroom.
Time for the tower: 9:00 to 16:00
Admission: 300 JPY

0. at Kashihara Jingumae Station.
1. use Kintetsu Yoshino Line to Yoshino Station.
2. use a Ropeway to the Yoshino.
3. use a local bus to Okusenbonguchi.

Kimpu Shrine
Kimpu Shrine enshrines Kanayamahiko no Mikoto who is the god of Yoshino mountain. Kimpu is the name of the all mountains around here and it means the gold mining mountain. In Buddhism, this place was considered as the heaven with gold.

There is a tower that used for the Shugendo. In 1185, Minamoto no Yoshitsune hid in this place. When he was surrounded, he kicked out the roof and escaped.
