Matsue (松江) is a castle town with real castle and real Samurai House located in eastern Shimane Prefecture. Matsue Castle is one of 12 existent remanning castles built in 1611. It is the real Samurai Castle. There is also the residence of Samurai with real Samurai House. Matsue Offers the real buildings of Samurai that survived over 400 years.

Matsue
Matsue Castle
Matsue Castle is one of 12 existed remaining castles. It was constructed in 1611 by Horio Tadauji. Even it was built early Edo period, Tensyu takes the old style of Japanese Castles. Tensyu is 4 layers 5 stories plus basement building. The height of Tensyu including stone basement is about 30m tall. Because of its historical value, Matsue Castle is designated as national historic sie, and chosen as one of 100 best Japanese castles and 100 best Sakura spots. There are also stone walls and moat are preserved in original constructions. Yagura and walls are recently reconstructed.

Samurai House
Matsue Samurai House is a remaining original Samurai House located in Matsue, Shimane Pref. It was constructed in 1733. It preserves great condition of original building. The owner of this house was middle rank Samurai who took 600 koku. This Samurai house is one of few remaining Samurai House that preserved almost complete structure of original building. Therefore, it shows the serious life and restricted rule of Samurai life. It displays all kinds of life materials of Edo period.

It is the Samurai residence that has many Samurai Houses, including Koizumi Yakumo House and museum.
