Osarizawa Mining(尾去沢鉱山) is one of the oldest metal mining in Japan. It is located in Kaduno, Akita Prefecture. It was found in 708. Then, it's been used until 1978. The entire site of this mining is about 800km long. It displays the method and life of the mining in Meiji period. This is the how people mine during the Edo period. There are many huge cracks in the cave that look like a valley in the cave.

There are parking and restroom.
Admission: 1000 yen for adult, 800 yen for high and junior school, 600 yen for under junior.
There is a group discount.
Time: 9:00 to 17:00 (Apr. 1 to Oct. 31), 9:00 to 15:30 (others)

Osarizawa Mining
Osarizawa Mining is one of the oldest copper mining located in Kazuno, Akita Prefecture. It was found in 708 and been used until 1978. There are 500 tunnels in this mining and entire length of all tunnels is 800km. The gold of this mining was used for the Great Buddha of Nara, and Chusonji Temple.

During Edo period,

Copper, gold, silver, lead, and zinc are yielded from this mining.

Today, about 1.7km long of Tunnel is open as the museum and restored the old mining people and facilities of the modern period and Edo period. You can enjoy the great adventure of the artificial cave under ground.
