Suzaka (須坂) is one of the Edo style towns located in northern Nagano Prefecture. It is known as the town of Kura, the Japanese storage. Because Syzaka is located at the cross point of Ozasa road and Tani road, it developed as the town of merchants, especially Suzaka developed with silk industry. There are many traditional houses and Kura, that opened for public and museum.

Suzaka
Suzaka Classic Museum is one of traditional houses located in Suzaka, Nagano Prefecture. It is know opened for a museum. This house was constructed in the late 19th century. It has a great Nagayamon style gate with Kura and main house. It is one of the largest scale of the remaining traditional houses with great Nagayamon Samurai Gate, the main haouse and Kura. It displays the great art collections of the famous painter Oka Nobutaka.

Otagiri House is one of the traditional houses located in Suzaka, Nagano Prefecture. This house was constructed in the late 20th century. Otagiri family was a powerful merchant in this domain. This house has a huge Nagayamon gate and Kura. The entrance of this house was used as the store for a wholesale store. It has a great feature of the traditional architecture of houses in this region.

The Great Merchant Tanaka House is one of the traditional houses that displays many treasures of Tanaka Family that was a powerful merchant in Suzaka. It is located in Suzaka, Nagano Prefecture. The museum has a beautiful painting, ceramics, and other arts. Tanaka family had more money than the Suzaka domain and castle and considered as the richest merchant in northern Nagano during Edo period. It has also a beautiful Kura, Japanese storages, traditional buildings and beautiful gardens.
