The Great Merchant Tanaka House (田中本家博物館) is one of the traditional houses that displays many treasures of Tanaka Family that was a powerful merchant in Suzaka. It is located in Suzaka, Nagano Prefecture. The museum has a beautiful painting, ceramics and other arts. Tanaka family had more money than the Suzaka domain and castle and considered as the richest merchant in northern Nagano during Edo period. It has also a beautiful Kura, Japanese storages, traditional buildings and beautiful gardens.

There are parking and restroom.
Admission: 900 JPY for adult, 350 JPY for under Highschool, 250 JPY for under 6th grade.
There is a group discount.
Time: 9:30 to 17:00 (Apr. to Nov.), 10:00 to 15:30 (Dec. to Feb.), Mar 10:00 to 16:30.
Closed on Tuesday.

Great Merchant Tanaka House
Takeda Museum is located in Suzaka, Nagano Prefecture. Tanaka family established their business during the middle of Edo period. Later, they became the most powerful merchant in northern Nagano Prefecture. There are 20 Kura in this house that store many treasures of Tanaka family over 100s of years. This house has also a pond surrounding the garden. You can see one of the richest merchant houses in Japan.
