Towada Shrine

Towada Shrine (十和田神社) is one of the oldest shrines in Japan, located in the middle of Lake Towada, Aomori Prefecture. It was established in 807 by the first Shogun, Sakanoue no Tamuramaro. When he conquered the eastern Japan, he invited the soul of Yamato Takeru no Mikoto and enshrined here. It is one of top two most powerful spiritual spots in Aomori. Legend said, there is a huge blue dragon at the bottom of the lake.

Towada Shrine

Towada Shrine is located in the middle of Lake Towada, Aomori Prefecture. Legend said, in 807, when 1st Shogun Sakanoue no Tamuramaro, moved his army to conquer the north east of Japan, he invited the soul of Yamato Takeru no Mikoto here and enshrines him at this place.

There is also another story that, Priest Nansobo who defeated the dragon of Yarogata, entered into Lake Towada and became the blue dragon.
