Yamanote Seven Gods

Travel Information

Yamanote Shichifukujin Tour, worshipping 7 lucky gods(山手七福神). 7 lucky gods tour is very popular tourism in Japan especially in early January. Yamanote Shichifukujin Tour takes about 2 hours around the Meguro Station. Usually, when you visit temples and shrines for 7 lucky gods, you usually collect Goshuin, but this time we collect this small figure of each lucky god.

Tourist Info.
There is no parking or restroom.
Each figures are 500 yen. You can buy the plate at Meguro Fudo.
Starts from Kakurinji (Shirokane-Takanawa Station) and finish at Meguro Fudo(Fudomae or Meguro Station)

Access
0. at Meguro Station.
1. use Nanboku or Mita Line to Shirokane Takanawa Station.
2. walk south (5 min.) to Ringakuji Temple.

Yamanote Seven Gods
Kakurinji Temple
It was established in 1631. This temple enshrines Bisyamonten. Bisyamonten is Indian God of War. He is not only the god of war, but also the god of treasure and wealth. He wears yellow armor, a tower on left hand and a spear on right hand. He is stepping on the evil with his angry face.

Zuishoji Temple
It was established in early Edo period. It enshrines Hoteison. Hotei is Zen priest who existed in China during 10th century.
Hotei has a huge abs and great smile. He has a fan called Bashosen and like Daikoku, he has a lucky bag.

Myoenji Temple. It enshrines both Fukurokuju and Jurojin.
Fukurokuju is Laozi in China. His name is made from, Fuku of Lucky, Roku of wealth, Ju of eternal life. He has long head, long beard, stuff and his parter crane.

Jurojin is the founder of Taoism. It's the wizard who turned out from Laozi. He wears a cute cap, and has a long stuff and a deer as partner.

Daienji Temple
It was established in 1624. It enshrines Daikokuten.
Daikokuten has a hammer with right hand, and a lucky bag on left hand. Then, he stands on two straw rice bags. He is the combination gods of Indian god and Japanese god.

Banryuji Temple It was established in ealy 18th century. It enshrines Benzaiten.
Benzaiten is the only Goddess in 7 Lucky Gods. She was originally Indian Goddess. She is a god of water. Benten Shrine in Japan always located near water.

Ryusenji Temple or Meguro Fudo
It was established in Heian period that is around 9th century. It enshrines Ebisu.
Ebisi is lucky god with a fishing pole on right hand,and red bream on left hands. Ebisu is the only Japanese God in 7 Lucky Gods.
