Yudonosan Shrine (湯殿山神社) is one of Dewa 3 sacred mountains located in Yamagata. This shrine is located on the south side of Mt. Gassan. Mt. Haguro, Mt. Gassan and Mt. Yudono are the moutains of Dewa 3 sacred mountains. Mt. Yudono represent the future as Mt. Haguro is present and Mt. Gassan is path.

Visitor's info.
There are parking and restroom.
You must have official reception at the shrine to enter the mountain.
Admission: 500 yen.
Time: 9:00 to 16:00
Open from: 4/29 to early Nov.
No shoes no photo in the moutain.

Access
0. at Sakata Station.
1. use JR Uetsu Line to Tsuruoka.
2. use local bus to Yudonosan.

Yudonosan Shrine is the most sacred place in Dewa 3 Sacred Moutains. You must have official reception to enter the mountain. This shrine has no artificial buildings and unified with the nature. Therefore, you must walk barefoot. There is a waterfalls for cleansing.

It represents the future and separation from the present world.
