Sanada House is a very important property that tells the story of late Edo period architecture. It was constructed in 1864 by Sanada Yukinori, the 9th lord of Matsushiro domain. In 1862, his mother and wife were allowed to go back to Matsushiro. Then, he had to build the house for his mother at the outer bailey of Matsushiro Castle. Later, when Yukinori retired, he also lived in this castle. There the gate, the main house, 7 storages and the pond surrounding garden. These buildings and structures are only remaining structures of Matsushiro castle. Because it was the house for the castle lord, it has the many features of high-rank Samurai, such as the gate has a huge Shikidai floor.

It is designated as the national important historical asset.
