Hida area is famous for "Takumi"(Skilled carpenters and architectures). In Nara period, 7th century, Takumi had paid a big contribution for building the capital's architecture. The styles and techniques of Takumi are still alive; today which include bay windows, lattice doors, lattice windows and painted caves.
