Rakusan-en garden is the only Daimyo Garden in Gunma Prefecture. It is designed to surround a pond with a tea house. This garden was made in the early Edo period by the Oda clan, and uses the background mountains as a part of the garden's design. The way that the garden uses stones is unique. In 1615, Oda Nobukatsu (the son of Nobunaga) was given this land. He and his father had spent almost all their lives fighting in wars. So, when the wars ended in Japan, Nobukatsu built this garden with his wish for peace.
