Yamachosuji is located in the central Takaoka city, Toyama Prefecture. There are many traditional houses, especially Kura style houses. Because of the beautiful scenery of traditional houses, it is registered as Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings.

At the main street, there are many Kurazukuri style houses. Those houses are very strong structure against fire. There are also houses that use many red bricks that is very unique compare to the other traditional town in Japan.

Sugano House is one of the traditional house constructed in 1900. It uses lots of bricks for the fireproof structure. Therefore, it has the combination of western style house and Japanese traditional house. This house is open for public.
